Executive Director Post: So Many New Events!

As Executive Director of Los Alamos Arts Council and Fuller Lodge Art Center, I get to present so many of our favorite events in a new way, as well as new and exciting events to the community!

We have had two Brown Bag Performances, both held virtually through Facebook, as well as on YouTube. You can still view the videos at https://youtu.be/SviK4TVg4cQ for the lovely performance by Heidi Morning and Yelena Mealy andhttps://youtu.be/Pk337g3ozXw for the upbeat Jazzy concert by The Craig Martin Experience.

Scarecrow Contest and Pumpkin Glow are in the works, and while we may not be able to have the same event as we’ve had in the past, we are excited to bring you a new experience. Applications for Scarecrow Contest are here, and we will begin accepting them on Friday, September 25th!

We are also accepting applications for the Fuller Lodge Art Center show: Color Outside the Lines. Applications can be found on the FLAC webpage. You can also download the application for the Affordable Arts Sale. A great opportunity to show off your work to the community!

Fuller Lodge Art Center is also hosting the work of the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. From Friday the 18th, through Saturday the 19th, painters were all around Northern New Mexico, painting what they saw. The show will be available beginning September 25th, and will hang until October 10th.

Join us for a fabulous fall, as we continue to find new and wonderful ways to bring our wonderful events.

Executive Director Post: Enjoying the Beautiful Summer in Los Alamos

What an interesting start to summer! First, we were on reduced hours during May and June due to COVID-19 and social distancing. During this time, we worked on updating our programs to be COVID-19 compliant, and finalizing the merger with Fuller Lodge Art Center.

On July 1st, Fuller Lodge Art Center merged into Los Alamos Arts Council, and we began operating as one organization. All our family at the Art Center has stayed, and all of the wonderful programs will continue. Los Alamos Arts Council looks forward to the experience the Fuller Lodge staff will bring to all our programs.

We at Los Alamos Arts Council hope that you are all well, and getting a chance to enjoy the beauty of this summer. Stay safe and healthy, and we hope to see you at our events soon!

A Wonderful First Month!

Wow, what an amazing first month I’ve had! We had some big events start this summer, like Chalk Walk and Missoula Children’s’ Theatre. We also got the wonderful news that we will be hosting speaker James Keller for the Second Rosalie Heller Annual Memorial Lecture to be held on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7:30 pm.

If you’ve seen us out at events, you know that we are trying to get a lot of interest for our Pumpkin Glow this year! We’re hoping to break a Guinness Book of World Records title, and would love to have you come join us to make it happen.

We’ve worked closely with our sister organization, Fuller Lodge Art Center, a lot this past month, and are looking forward to continuing to work with them closely for the foreseeable future. Check out their wonderful Arts and Crafts Fair this weekend, Saturday, August 10th, from 9 am to 4 pm.

Thank you all for making this first month wonderful! I look forward to continuing to serve you and your arts needs!

Hello, My name is Chris(tine) Montieth, and I am very excited to begin my journey as the new Executive Director of the Los Alamos Arts Council. I look forward to working with the LAAC Board and the community on our beautiful events.  Come see us this weekend, July 13th, for the Sec Sandoval Chalk Walk- part of Science Fest- and join us in two weeks as we welcome Missoula to town for auditions and the presentation of “The Snow Queen”!
