Scarecrow Contest

Scarecrow Contest 2021: Out of this world!

Los Alamos Arts Council sponsors an annual Scarecrow Contest! To make MainStreet and the Creative District look festive for the Evening of Arts and Culture we will have two time periods for setting up Scarecrows: Friday October 22 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Saturday October 23 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The theme for this year is : Out of this World! This topic celebrates human fascination with outer space and it’s inhabitants both real and imaginary. Elements include astronauts, aliens, robots, space creatures, sci-fi films, planets, stars, and so much more. Participants are encouraged but not required to include the theme in their creations. Please, keep in mind that this is a community/family-friendly event, and Scarecrows should not be overly gruesome or violent.

Paper forms available at the Fuller Lodge Art Center Gallery Shop

Check payments must be made to Los Alamos Art Council or LAAC. Registration fee is $20

Scarecrows as a part of Halloweekend!

Community members are invited to start voting for “Fan Favorite” at Fuller Lodge Art Center, participating businesses or online. The winning entry in “Fan Favorite,” as well as four others, will each receive Chamber Checks — sponsored by Los Alamos MainStreet and the Creative District — and redeemable at dozens of local businesses. Official Judges from multiple local organizations will be looking at all Scarecrows, and giving points for originality, creativity, construction, and theme. Announcement of the winners will be via phone calls to the winners, as well as on Facebook, Instagram, and here on our webpage!

Scarecrows will be on display from October 22th, through November 1st, 2021, for the community to enjoy.
