Stories From Home Los Alamos: A Storytelling Workshop

Samizdat Bookstore and Los Alamos Arts Council invite you to an afternoon exploring the art of storytelling with Yvonne Montoya, choreographer and Artistic Director of Tucson’s Safos Dance Theatre. Montoya, along with dancers Delia Ibañez and Esteban Rosales, will guide participants in using storytelling in a highly interactive workshop to explore themes of community, home, and the history of Los Alamos. In groups of 2-3, participants will follow a series of prompts to share a fun or interesting story about themselves and their home. The workshop will conclude with a performance of a monologue from Stories From Home.

This workshop is inspired by Stories From Home, an evening length dance piece that is a series of dances embodying the oral traditions of Nuevomexicano and Chicano communities in the American Southwest.

We invite the people of Los Alamos, White Rock, and our neighboring communities to participate in this free, all-ages event at the Fuller Lodge Art Center at 2pm on Sunday, April 14. Please direct questions to Jill Lang of Samizdat Bookstore at 505-412-0238 or admin@samizdatbookstore.com or director@losalamosartscouncil.org
