Art Studio: Afterschool

About: A dynamic and creative space designed for young artists in grades 1-6. In this hands-on workapace, students explore a variety of mediums—including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Each session is facilitated by a knowledgable staff member who will encourage them to express themselves and experiment with new media.
Art Studio: Teens

About: This open art studio for teens is an opportunity for 7th-12th graders to express themselves through various art mediums. Students will have access to drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and so much more. There will not be an instructor leading a specific project, but there will be a facilitator to help students get started.

Intro to Hand Sewing

This 8 week class just for elementary age kiddos will teach the basics of hand sewing. At the end of the class you will have sewn a mini stuffed animal that you design, and have a reference binder that you will be able to refer to for future projects.
Nevelson Sculpture

About: In this fun and creative class, students will learn about the fascinating world of Louise Nevelson, an artist known for her bold, abstract sculptures made from found objects. Just like Nevelson, you will use everyday materials—like wood pieces, cardboard, and other recycled objects—to create your own 3D masterpiece. We’ll explore how Nevelson arranged her objects in interesting ways to create art that tells a story, and then we’ll build our own sculptures using similar techniques! Whether you're making a towering sculpture or a smaller piece, you'll get to experiment with shapes, texture, and monochromati color, and discover how to turn everyday items into something extraordinary.

In this fun and interactive class, students in grades 1 through 6 will learn how to create their own agamographs—colorful, eye-catching art pieces that change their appearance as you view them from different angles! They'll explore the basics of symmetry, color, and pattern while cutting, folding, and assembling their designs. Through hands-on activities, students will experiment with shapes, textures, and optical illusions, discovering how slight shifts in perspective can transform their artwork. By the end of the class, each student will have created a unique agamograph to take home, along with a deeper understanding of how art and math can come together to create something truly magical.
Intro to Linoleum Printing

In this fun and creative linoleum printmaking class, students will learn the basics of this unique art form by carving their own designs into linoleum blocks to create prints. They’ll start by sketching simple drawings and then transfer those designs onto the linoleum. Using safe carving tools, they’ll carefully carve out their designs, learning how to control the tools and create bold lines and shapes. Once their blocks are ready, they’ll use colorful ink to press onto paper and create beautiful prints. This hands-on process lets kids explore their artistic skills, develop an eye for design, and have fun while making their own art to take home!

Cardboard, hot glue, and endless possibilities. Come builld all sorts of cardboard creations in our large classroom. Younger students will have assistance with hot glue.
Pysanky: Ukranian Easter Egg Dyeing

About: Back by popular demand! Psanky! A psyanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg decorated using a wax-resin method. Students will learn the basics of this folk art using beeswax, traditional dyes, and a traditional drawing tool (kistka) and will create two to three decorated eggs during class.
